The Gym is Unrealistic and That is Okay

As an incoming freshmen in college, I had big plans. I wanted to somehow balance school, work, eating healthy, and going to the gym everyday. This was extremely unrealistic. I started off great. Until the stress kicked in. As from my last blog post you know that stress is not a good thing.
Realizing I was too exhausted to do all of these daily tasks, I cut out the gym. The week went on and I felt disgusting. This was a huge change for my body. But, I soon realized that if I did not want to go to the gym everyday, I would have to keep my eating habits healthier than ever. So I did exactly that.
The gym became a treat for me. I would only go to the gym when I had the time and was not cramming it in.
I realized this year, that not going to the gym is okay. There are other ways to keep healthy. I learned that sleep is my best friend. In college, I do not get a lot of time to take advantage of my sleep so when I can, I do. Sleep is also a necessity to keeping good health.
So the next time you are down on yourself for not going to the gym, don't be. Just be more cautious and maybe put down that bowl of ice cream you were thinking of having.
